Hoo Bears Write Home...

Calling all Hoo Bears...Calling all Hoo Bears...

Hoo Bears travel all around the world to be adopted, and it was suggested to us that it would be a great idea to have a page for adopted bears to send a message back to the Hoo Hug in England. Gilbert heard about this and thought it was a great idea and suggested that he could make himself available as message editor (well, let's face it he doesn't have anything else to do!) He would then post the messages he received on the message page for bears to view everywhere. So here is that page...

If you are a Hoo Bear and would like to send Gilbert a message - to say "hi", or tell him about your humans (are they nice or nasty!?), or what you've been up to recently, just fill in the form below and Gilbert will get the message!

The last time this page was updated was on Monday, 09 June 2003

Hello Gilbert from all the Hoo Bears residing in Dartford. We are all looking forward to our yearly trip to the bluebell woods nearby. We explore the woods and usually have our photos taken to the amusement of passing visitors. We will get our mum to bring them to the next fair. The new bear is very quiet may be living with so many other Hoos she is shy,we have asked Sweetcorn who is also quiet to try to make her more confident.

Message:

Hi Gilbert!

I'm writing this from a room which looks like a bomb has hit it. My human is packing everything into boxes - she says we're moving to a really smart place in South Kensington where all the posh bears live. She says her room is quite small so I'm the only bear who's going to move with her. I think that will be a bit lonely for me, so I might have to talk her into adopting another of the Hoo Hug.

She says we're going to do lots of fun things like going to the park and the museums and sunbathe on the roof terrace. I'm not sure about that because I don't like heights, but Becky says I can take honey sandwiches with me so I'm sure I will manage.

Becky's laughing at me because I'm writing this on her laptop computer. It might fit on her lap, but it doesn't fit on mine!*

Anyway, I'm going to go now. I think I'll pretend to hibernate until this moving thing is all over.

Lots of hugs

Milly

*Becky's e-mailing a picture to Helen - tell her that the photo makes me look a lot fatter than I really am:
Milly - not looking at all fat...

Gilbert replies...
Hi Milly, great news about the posh pad. Things can only get better for a bear like yorself. You hav alreddy managed to mek shure you accumpny your human to the new howse. I wunder, how meny poor bears are being left bhind? Anyway we wont think about them too much. Think the sunbathing on the terris sounds like a good idea speshully if there are hunney sandwidges involved - but please bear in mind what I told Marshy in California (ree sun and fur), and on subject of boxes - mek shure your last in and first out at the uther end. Nun of this getting unpakked in 6 munths mallarkey. I think your piccy is fab, and you dont look at all fat. Tek care in the moov. Lots of hugs, G xxx

Human's Name: Paula
Where I Live Now: Rotorua, New Zealand
Message:

Hello Gilbert!

Thought you and your humans might be interested to know about my life and travels since I left the Hoo hug. My human takes me along on all her trips so I've been living the jetset life (first class hand luggage only of course).I've been to Paris and had my photo taken by the Eiffel Tower, and posed by the fountains at the Louvre, I've also been to Florence and Rome, and Melbourne too. I've always had a good travelling companion in my human's fiance's bear, Timmy, who goes everywhere with us too. That's why I am in New Zealand at the moment, so my human can be with her fiance. I miss my hug in England but at least I am getting to spend lots more time with my best friend Timmy. It's a bit smelly in Rotorua with all the sulphur and boiling mud, sometimes I wish I had a smaller nose!

I hope you and your humans are well, say 'hi' to them from me and let them know I am being loved and well cared for.

Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year from down under!

Ismay

Gilbert replies...
Hi there Ismay, it is always wunderful to hear from Hoo Bears way away away. I had better wotch out cos you may be getting better travulled than me!! Well, acktchally you might alreddy be, witch is a very wurrying thort, so I think I better brybe my mum and dad with some beer and see if they cud maybe take me somewehere posh. I havent seen the Eyeful tower but it sounds ded good, and it sounds like the loo was ded good too if it had fountains in it. send my regards to Timmy - he cud be a onurery hoo bear if he wants. You are a very lucky bear going round so much and cumpamnying your human on her travels, even if she duz wont to liv sumware so smelly. That is VERY ODD isnt it - I wunder why she duz. Praps you cud perswayde her to move back to Ingland. Tiz a bit cold at the mo tho.

Enyway, glad your well, and I shall definitly pass on the news to Mum and dad. Lots of luv to you from the hug Ismay. Have a great time. Your pal from up -over, G xx

P.S. My mums records say your number 6 of 6 and adopted in June 1999.

Hello Gilbert,

I was adopted at a Bear Fair somewhere in the Midlands, in around 1996 (I can't remember because I've moved around a lot since - I even lived in Sweden for a time. I am number 8 of 10. My human also makes bears and my creator (and yours too) sent her some lead pellets YEARS ago so she could try them. She now uses pellets in her bears too. They are all nice and friendly and don't mind me being a comer-in..you ought to have a look at some of her bears - she even has a website - it is

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/tugalotandscruffbags/

Anyway, it is nice to talk to you. I keep asking my human to adopt another Hoo Bear so that I don't feel so left out, and she says she might....

Lots of love and furry kisses,

Zlotty xxx

PS love to our Creator too from me and my human xx

Message:

Hello Gilbert,

As you can see there are 5 of us wanting to say hi and to let you know we're all still doing great. Our human, Marline, has been "disconnected" from the internet a couple of years but finally managed to get a new computer with Internet.

A lot has happened since we first arrived in Belgium but we won't bore you with all the details. Hester and Picasso have become unseperable, Chesswood is still trying to decide between Holly and Lady Barnett. ;-) But we all get along very well.

We are trying to persuade our human to adopt another Hoo Bear, but for the time being, the newest addition to the family, a little human called Arthur, takes up all of her time...

We hope to hear from you soon!

Take care,

The Belgian Hoo Hug (Holly, Hester, Picasso, Chesswood and Lady Barnett)

Gilbert replies...
Hello my Beljun chums. Wot wunderful news to hearr from you all and that your all doing great. Glad that your back on the net so we can all keep in tuch. Ive seen these little humans at bear fairs - theyre all sticky fingers and sick. Not nice - wotch out I say. Cos those fingers will mat the fur. Almost as bad as the blak furry thing I hav to put up with sumtiyems - oooh. But enuf about that. Gud luck to you all and send my bestetst ever luck to all in Belgum. Take care all. G xxxxx

Don't drink too much of your human's beer. You will get fat. Say Hi to your humans for me.

Hugs Rockford

Gilbert replies...
Hi there old frend Rockford Junier.  Thanx for riting - just grateteetsxxxxxx super to here from you. You must get your Derek human to take you on hols. Tell your humans that it's about time we had a bear's outing - with Spike of course. You might like to know that our household has a new(ish) addition - another one of those black and white furry things with the waggy tails - the ones that go 'woof' a lot!! Fortunately she ignores me - mind you I have noticed that my 'bed' has been moved to a higher shelf where she can't reach - I wonder why?

you'll also have noticed that my typing skills have improved - thought it was about time I got the hang of this new-fangled technology.

Well that's all for now - hope to see you soon - say hi to your humasn and the rest of the hug.
